Mission
We are recruiting a Satellite Thermal Engineer (M/F) for a newly created position within our Space Department.
Key Responsibilities
- In co-engineering with our instrument supplier, define the thermal architecture for the GESAT Gen2 payload and ensure the successful execution of the project, from the early design phases through detailed thermal analyses. You will also be expected to propose R&T (Research & Technology) thermal designs during early project phases in response to institutional tenders (ESA/CNES).
- Develop and maintain thermal mathematical models (GMM/TMM) using Thermica and ESATAN-TMS.
- Perform on-orbit thermal analyses, including thermal mapping, power budgets, and nominal, degraded, and survival case assessments.
- Lead thermal vacuum testing (TVAC, TVT), including test preparation, model correlation, and test data analysis.
- Draft thermal specifications for equipment and manage technical follow-up with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Participate in project reviews (PRR, PDR, CDR, QR) and present/defend the thermal engineering aspects.
- Contribute to the selection of passive thermal control solutions (MLI, thermal coatings, heat pipes) and active thermal control systems (thermistors, heated MLI).
- Provide thermal engineering support during Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT), as well as launch and LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase) operations.
Work in collaboration with the mechanical and thermal engineer on flight segment aspects.
About you
Technical skills:
- 5+ years of experience in thermal engineering within the space industry, with expertise in satellite structural thermal analysis and finite element analysis (FEA)-based thermal justification.
- Ideally, you have successfully led the complete development of a spacecraft thermal architecture, from initial design through launch and in-orbit operations.
- Knowledge of ECSS standards (ECSS-E-ST-31, ECSS-E-ST-10-03) and MIL-STD requirements.
- Experience with thermo-structural coupling and collaboration with mechanical and structural engineering teams.
- Knowledge of optics/infrared systems or cryogenics would be an asset (space imaging context, cooled detectors).
- Ability to prepare technical documentation in both French and English, and communicate effectively with suppliers regarding technical requirements, presentations, and interface documentation.
IT skills (Software) : SOLIDWORKS, SIMCENTER 3D, NASTRAN, TMG
Professional proficiency in both French and English.
