Sensing Atmospheric Intelligence Invited to Speak at G7 Methane Action Event in Paris

Tristan Laurent, our CEO, was invited to participate in the International High-level Multi-stakeholder Event on Methane Action, held in Paris on May 4, 2026, as part of the G7 discussions on climate, methane emissions and energy security.

The event gathered international institutions, governments, industrial leaders, scientists and satellite operators around a growing consensus: methane reduction is no longer only an environmental issue — it is also a strategic economic and geopolitical priority.

Against the backdrop of the ongoing Strait of Hormuz crisis, several speakers highlighted Europe’s structural dependence on imported fossil fuels and the vulnerability of global LNG and oil supply chains. The disruption of flows through Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints — has intensified pressure on energy prices and reinforced the importance of reducing waste across the gas value chain.

As emphasized throughout the conference, methane emissions represent not only a climate challenge, but also a massive loss of usable energy. The International Energy Agency estimates that reducing methane leaks and routine flaring could recover substantial volumes of gas while strengthening Europe’s energy resilience and sovereignty.

Today, Sensing is increasingly recognized as one of the leading emerging players in satellite-based methane detection and quantification. Through its technological advances in high-precision monitoring and industrial-scale methane measurement, the company contributes to the new generation of operational climate intelligence systems supporting governments, regulators and energy operators worldwide.

This recognition is reflected in the invitation extended to Tristan Laurent to contribute to this high-level international event alongside major institutional, scientific and industrial stakeholders shaping the future of methane transparency and mitigation.

During his intervention, Tristan Laurent presented the latest advances achieved by Sensing, including:

  • the successful deployment of GESAT Gen-1,
  • demonstrated quantification accuracy above 97% through blind testing,
  • and the upcoming launch of a new satellite.

His message was clear: reliable methane measurement technologies are now operational and ready to support both climate action and energy sovereignty objectives.
As Europe accelerates efforts to secure its energy future while reducing emissions, trusted satellite intelligence is becoming a critical tool for transparency, operational efficiency and strategic resilience.
